Sharing The Big News

Did You Know Email Header (6).png

You found out that you are pregnant, and now you want to tell the whole world. When you and your partner choose to share the news is a very personal decision. Some parents choose to wait until the end of the first trimester – or longer! -- when the risk of pregnancy loss decreases significantly. Others are ready to start spreading the word right away.

Regardless of when you choose to share, there are so many ways to tell the ones you love that your family is growing. The reactions of future fathers/partners, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other loved ones when you tell them the wonderful news are priceless and will warm your heart. We have prepared a few creative ideas on how to create a memorable moment by sharing the big news.

Baby’s first book

Purchase a favorite children’s book. On the first page, write: “Dear Grandma and Grandpa..., Please read me this story in ... [the month when your baby is expected]. With love, your grandson/daughter. " You will get a reaction that you never forget.

Capture loved ones’ reactions

Invite your loved ones to dinner. Spontaneously take out the camera and tell them to stop for a photoshoot. Before you press the button, shout "I'm pregnant." The photos are sure to conjure smiles, laughs, and possibly (happy) tears for years to come. You may choose to take a series of photos to capture their cascade of emotions as they process your news!

Message from the youngest in the family

Do you already have children? Give the siblings-to-be the honor of announcing the good news to friends and family. Make a T-shirt that says, "Mom is bringing me a sister/brother" or "I'm going to be a big brother/sister in [the month you are scheduled to give birth]." Invite your loved ones as guests and wait for one of them to notice what is written.

Ultrasound gift

You may choose to share copies of the first ultrasound photo. On each copy on the back, write personal messages to the reader, such as "I Love Grandma" or "Auntie, can't wait to go shopping together."

A picture worth 1000 words

The options are endless! Perhaps an announcement photo could highlight your pets, the season your baby is due, or your family’s hobbies or interests. Let creativity guide you.

Whether this is your first or your fifth, have fun sharing the news.
