Our Favorite Meditation Apps for Expecting Moms and Parents

Whether you are currently pregnant with your first child or already have four kids pulling you in different directions, parenting can be tough. I get it, because I have struggled with crippling anxiety throughout all 3 of my pregnancies and in the early years of parenting.

I have found that one of the most helpful ways to de-stress in any stage of parenthood is through mindfulness and meditation. These are my 5 favorite apps for lessening negative emotions like stress, anxiety, and fear, and boosting positive emotions like love, caring, peace and happiness.

  1. Insight Timer

What we love most about Insight Timer is that they have a comprehensive FREE library of meditations; whether you want to feel healthier and happier, help with relationships, or different ways to address stress and anxiety; you will have access to 80,000 free meditations through the app. They also have a section for parents to introduce mindfulness to your children. This can be a great activity to do together.

2. Calm

The Calm app has big name performers like Keith Urban and Matthew McConaughey to peacefully sing and read you to sleep. While the Calm app is a bit pricier than other apps of its kind, it does have carefully curated meditations that align with your mood check-ins. These mood check-ins are a quick click of an emoji, so nothing invasive. Then, you receive meditations based on those feelings, like help with anxiety, fear, boredom, and stress.

3. MamaZen

The MamaZen app uses meditation and hypnotherapy to help you declutter your mind from negative thoughts, feelings and emotions and instill more positive, loving and empowering ones. When you are calmer, your whole family benefits. For a small fee each month, their app customizes meditations that pertain to the issues you are struggling with.

4. Evoke Fertility Meditations

If you are going through the fertility process, this app is a great resource for mindfulness support. They have meditations that align with each stage of the fertility process like getting in rhythm with your cycle, IVF, IUI, and even meditations to help you sleep better.

5. Expectful

The Expectful app uses a few helpful questions when you sign up to cater the experience to the point in your parenthood journey you are in, and to the outcomes you want to experience from using it. They do charge a monthly fee, but with only the meditations that pertain to you delivered, it seems less confusing and easy to stick to.
